The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) wishes to inform the public that the phone lines at health facilities that were disconnected have since been restored and can now receive calls.

Out of the remaining 11 facilities that were still affected, only Carletonville District Hospital remains disconnected due to theft of copper lines. The service provider Telkom will be installing wireless lines in the coming week.

In the meantime, the public is urged to continue using the alternative contact numbers to communicate with Carletonville District Hospital until the issue is resolved. The list of alternative contact numbers can be accessed on the provincial government’s website www.gauteng.gov.za.

The GDoH continues to implement the project to migrate all health facilities to the Gauteng Provincial Voice Network system, which is operated by the eGovernment Department. This system will drastically reduce communication costs within institutions and improve connectivity with external stakeholders. Already over 130 health facilities have been migrated into the new system.
