The Gauteng Department of Health would like to notify the public that services at Heidelberg Hospital are back to normal after the water supply was restored by Saturday, 25 March 2023.

The facility had to activate emergency measures in the past week which saw Lesedi Local Municipality, South African National Defence Force in Heidelberg and Oranje Rivier Tankers supplying water to the hospital using tankers. Non-emergency services such as the Outpatient Department, operations at Sizanempilo Clinic and Elective Surgeries were temporarily suspended while the municipality and Rand Water attended to the water supply problem. The services have since been restored.

Visiting the facility on Sunday (26 March) afternoon, the Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko explained that “We had to divert services to other facilities to ensure continuous care to the public. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. The situation is now back to normal after the water supply was restored”.
