​The Department of Roads and Transport has held continuous engagements with surrounding communities affected by the Hendrik Potgieter road bridge collapse.
Heavy rains and subsequent collapse damaged a storm-water channel and forced the road closure in mid-December 2022. 
With much work done, the rehabilitation of the Hendrik Potgieter Road Bridge is going according to schedule. It is estimated that completion date for the rebuild is set for November 2023.
As part of this engagement, the Department continues to share updates on timelines for repairs as well as traffic management plan. This shed light on how traffic is being managed to mitigate against potential hazards associated with the traffic environment.
