Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAP) can apply for environmental authorisation on the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) online submission system.

How to apply
Submit application form & pay applicable fee to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development The EAP must then undertake the EIA process as regulated in the National Environmental Management Act, Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (https://www.environment.gov.za/legislation/actsregulations) and comply with the relevant Gauteng environmental guidelines.
These include: the Gauteng Pollution Buffer Zone Guideline 2017; the Gauteng Sustainability Development Criteria 2017; Biodiversity-Mainstreaming-Toolbox 2014; Council for GeoScience - development on dolomite 2004; GAPA4 Final Report 2013; Gauteng C-Plan3 3 Technical Report 2014; Gauteng-Protected Areas Expansion Strategy 2013; GDARD requirements for biodiversity assessments 2014; Grassland Ecosystem Guidelines 2013; Important Bird Areas 2015; Mining and Biodiversity Guideline 2013; Mining and Environmental Impact Guide 2008; National list of ecosystems that are threatened and in need of protection 2011; Red List guidelines 2017; Ridges Guidelines 2006; and any other guidelines applicable.
