​This service is provided  24/7 to weigh passenger and freight vehicles to check compliance with the National Road Traffic Act.​ The service is available at all Traffic Control Centres along some major highways in the Province. The vehicles are compelled by regulatory traffic signs to enter  the weighbridge​. 

 

The National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act No. 93 of 1996)​, and the Road Traffic Regulations made in terms of this Act determine the maximum mass limits of vehicles used on public roads. The Act also determines the powers of traffic officers regarding the enforcement of the mass limits.
