​The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will this morning, 10 October 2023 officially welcome the Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare Train at the Dube Station in Soweto.

The train will provide a basket of health services which include amongst others, dental services, eye care and screening for diabetes and cancer free of charge and some at a very low cost. 

The train is stationed at the Dube Station from 09 to 20 October 2023. The operational days and times are Monday to Friday from 07h30 to 16h00. Communities in Soweto and surrounding areas are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to access healthcare services offered by the train. 

Among the many people who are looking forward to making use of the service are three senior citizens aged 83 and 103 who have eyesight challenges. Today they will be screened and given assistive devices.
