GAUTENG HEALTH SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON HILLBROW CHC ALLEGATIONS 18.07.2023.pdf

The Gauteng Department of Health would like to set the record straight about the alleged money owed to City Power which is said to have led to electricity supply being disconnected at the Hillbrow Community Healthcare Centre.

Contrary to the unfounded allegation made in a statement by Mr Jack Bloom, the truth is that the power supply challenges at the facility have nothing to do with payment issues. Hillbrow CHC has no unpaid bill with City Power.

The power utility was engaged to assist with the problem two weeks ago when electricity tripped affecting a section of the facility, and upon investigation, they realised that the damaged cable was from inside the facility.

The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development was then engaged and they have since appointed a service provider to do the repair work. As part of safety measures, the onsite generator switches off intermittently to cool off. We apologise for the inconvenience this has had on users of the facility and staff. Services at the Hillbrow CHC continue to be rendered while the contractor fixes the damaged cable. The appointed contractor who has committed to fixing the cable by close of business on Wednesday, 19 July 2023.
