Department, g-FleeT Management receives unqualified audit outcomes

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport and g-FleeT Management’s strict adherence to corporate governance principles and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) regulations were rewarded when the Office of the Auditor General (AGSA) gave both organisations unqualified audit reports.

This adds another positive cap and building block in realising a responsive, capable, and accountable organization, fit-for-purpose.

An unqualified audit report means that financial statements of the Department and its entity, g-FleeT Management, are sound in all material aspects.

In welcoming the audit clean report, MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela indicated that the report is a remarkable achievement given the wide range of services delivered to the people of Gauteng and the complex challenges attached to financial controls and management.

"I would like to extend words of gratitude to all officials and our stakeholders for having assisted to achieve this milestone. Without you, this could not have been realised," the MEC remarked.

The MEC added that the report serves as a demonstration of the Department’s commitment to compliance with accounting standards.

She also congratulated the Gautrain Management Agency, an agency of the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport tasked with managing the Gautrain Project, for obtaining a clean audit opinion. This is a demonstration of the agency’s sound corporate governance and responsible financial management.

"Over the years, the Department and its entities have insisted on having and maintaining effective proper internal controls that included stringent financial management. We have also introduced and insisted on strict performance management as measures to be constantly maintained. This needs to be sustained going forward”, said the MEC.

The MEC also thanked all relevant role-players who were involved in the Department’s efforts to ensure the organisation’s financial status is sound.
