The Gauteng MEC for Health and wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will on tomorrow,25 June 2025, visit the Transnet Phelophepha Healthcare Train to assess the provision of healthcare services and engage with the public on the importance of prioritising their health.
The train is bringing primary healthcare services closer to the community in line with Gauteng Department of Health’s priority to bring such services to Townships, Informal Settlements and Hostels (TISH) areas.
The Transnet Phelophepha Healthcare Trains are equipped with clinics for eye care, dental care, general health, psychology and pharmaceutical services as well as an educational clinic. They operate on Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 16:00.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the Phelophepa healthcare trains for comprehensive health screening free of charge.
The MEC will be joined by officials from Transnet, the Gauteng Department of Health and various leaders from the local authorities where the trains are stationed.
