​The AngloGold journey began in South Africa in May of 1998, when the gold and uranium mining interests of Anglo American Corporation of South Africa were consolidated. In August 1998, AngloGold  became the first South African company to list on NYSE.  During the Ward 32 Revamp Project at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, the company donated an amount of R230 000.  ​​
