Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and Property Management Ms. Tasneem Motara visited the construction site of the Sebokeng Clinic in Sebokeng Zone 17, Emfuleni Local Municipality, on the 13 October 2021 for a follow up site inspection. The facility entails the construction of an altogether new small clinic, based on the small clinic prototype design that was developed by DID and approved by Health. The project forms part of the National Health Insurance (NHI) pilot phase rollout.

The MEC was accompanied by the Project Manager Mr. Thami Mashinini, DDG for Health Infrastructure Mr Richard Makhumisani, the contractor and the DID team. And, briefing the MEC regarding the progress on the project since MEC's last visit, the team said 95% of the work was done and the project was expected to be completed by end of October 2021.

MEC Motara was happy to announce that the facility structure is complete. She said they are left with electricity connections from Eskom which will allow them to finalise test connections of electricity works and to finally open the clinic to the community.

"This clinic was built using the prototype that the Department of Health has provided for clinics of this nature. The clinic is set to replace the very small and old clinic and service the area of Sebokeng Zone 17 and the surroundings. We are looking forward to open this clinic in the near future." said Motara.

The scope of work entails fence and gates, water connections, sewer connections, external stormwater, signage, mechanical works, plumbing, electrical, floor covering including tiling and vinyl, fittings, health technology and artwork.
