The Gauteng Provincial Government continues to make noticeable strides in the fight against crime in the province. This is evident in the recorded weekly arrests of wanted suspects under operation okae moloa. This week's operation was conducted in Boksburg, north of Ekurhuleni on Thursday, 22 August 2019.

Speaking at the road block at the Rondebult Road in Boksburg, Gauteng Premier, David Makhura said: "This morning, we are here in Boksburg to ensure that there is law and order in our society. Our police have been working throughout the night in order to make sure that we crackdown on criminal activities around the area. They have arrested 535 wanted suspects and recovered the stolen firearms in the process."

Makhura also added that it was delightful to see that the joint intervention program continued to yield positive results, and was well received by Gauteng residents.

Motorist Jenin Steenkamp said she was happy with the turnaround time of the police in responding to reported crime as it showed commitment towards reducing the crime rate in Gauteng.

"This is the first time that I have ever had my car properly searched by the police. This shows that they (government) are truly committed towards fighting crime in this province and I would like to see more of this in our communities", said Steenkamp.
