Odi District Hospital‘s Neonatal Unit has just hosted an educational event in celebration of the World Premature Day. The event which was attended by about 30 mothers of premature babies and clinicians from the facility served as a fitting platform to celebrate the lives of premature babies and educate the mothers about kangaroo mother care.

The Day was filled with educational activities and enlightening tips about the good care of premature babies and the ways to avoid early births.

The birth weight of premature babies at Odi hospital ranges from 730 grams to 2.5 kg and they are all surviving with zero neonatal death rate.

“It is encouraging to note that mothers of these premature babies appreciate the remarkable dedication and care of our Neonatal Nurses and Doctors, especially when looking at their beautiful healthy babies that are growing so well and for us this is fulfilling and a sense of contributing to the well-being of our future leaders,” added the acting CEO Dr Raymond Motsepe.

It is the motto of Odi Hospital Neonatal Unit to ensure that even the smallest child survives and the management would like to extended the words of gratitude to Neonatal Unit staff members for keeping this Unit as the center of benchmark.
