MEC Lesufi handovers state of the art school to Noordgesig community

The Gauteng Provincial Government has made significant strides in the empowerment of township schools. This is evident in the investment it continues to make in building new state of the art schools and revamping old township schools, one such school is   the Noordgesig Primary School, which was officially handed over on Wednesday, 15 January 2020.  The handover formed part of the Provincial Government's Back to School Campaign.
 Speaking at the handover of the revamped Noordgesig Primary School on Wednesday, 15 January 2020, Premier Makhura said: "When we first visited this community along with former City of Johannesburg Mayor, Parks Tau in 2015, you gave us marching orders of what you need to be done in this community.
 "Despite some of these issues having being complex, we are proud to come back today to give you one of the state of the art facilities in which you asked for. Gone are the days where pupils need to travel to the suburbs in order to get quality education", said Makhura.
 He furthermore reassured community members that their pleas for quality healthcareservices would not be in vein as the municipality plans on opening a new healthcare clinic in the next few months.
 Meanwhile the MEC for Education and Youth Development Panyaza Lesufi said:" As we stand here today we are making a strong statement that we are turning things around.
 MEC for Infrastructure Development and Property Management Tasneem Motara called for community members to take care of their public facilities.
 "This has been an incredible journey for us as the Department of Infrastructure because the facility is one of our example projects where we have delivered in less than 18 months.
 "We are proud to say that we have invested more than R110 Million which has gone towards 59 subcontractors, 150 labours and 30 EPWP learners who will awarded their certificates in accredited training. It is for this reason that we urge you to look after this facility as it is an investment to the future of our children, added MEC Motara.
