MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi together with the Grade 12 learners have signed a pledge emphasizing the commitment to administer the 2019 final examination and for learners to behave appropriately.
The Gauteng province will commence the year-end National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations with the administration of the Computer Applications Technology Practical examination on Wednesday,16 October 2019 and conclude with Music on Friday, 29 November 2019.
"We would like to wish all our Grade 12 learners the best of luck and assure them that they have our full support. Learners are urged to conduct themselves with honesty during the exam.
"Cheating and other exam irregularities may result in a criminal record. Tears and sweat taste the same but will get you different results. Tears will get you sympathy and sweat will get you change." said MEC Lesufi.
As part of the department's final push strategy to ensure the preparedness of learners for these exams, it has implemented Matric Revision Camps across the province. The camps are meant to provide opportunities for intensive study and drill sessions aimed at increased content coverage as well as intensive exam practice and preparation.
"We have also done everything possible to ensure that our learners have been given the best possible chance to do well in these exams. There were subject specific interventions implemented throughout the year.
"The results of these exams will be released on Tuesday, 7 January 2020 at schools and will give us a clear indication on our performance as our aim is for learners to compete on an international scale, especially in Maths, Science and Technology," said Lesufi.
