The trial of child abuser to resume in February

The defense lawyer of a 40 year-year old Nellie Senwamezi has agreed with the state that the trial will resume on the 18th February 2020 at the Oberholzer Magistrate Court in Carltonville.

Although the state had set aside the date for January, he appealed with the state prosecutor that January he will not be available.

Parents of children from former Ninnie's Neuron's Nursery were not happy when the case of Senwametsi was postponed again by the Oberholzer Magistrate Court.

Senwametsi was caught on camera viciously beating toddlers at Ninnie's Neuron's Nursery   which was later closed down by the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

Gender Based activists showed up in number to support the parents of the victims, dressed up in T-shirts written "No excuse for child abuse".

One of the teachers who asked to remain anonymous said she has completed her counselling process and she is ready to stand as a witness.

Investigations by Gauteng Social Development can reveal that the Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) was operating illegally and it was immediately shut down.

A woman outside the court who asked to remain anonymously said the court should also consider the woman who recorded the video for her to be prosecuted.

According to media reports the videos of the gruesome assaults were recorded last year, they only came to light this year and led to an uproar. As soon as they were circulated on social media, parents rushed to the creche to remove their child.
