The Research and Ethics Committee at Odi District Hospital in Tshwane recently hosted its Third Annual Research Conference which looked at the quality of available research whilst strengthening the delivery of district healthcare services through encouraging and supporting the use of evidence based practice.

The conference was attended by different academics from Odi District Hospital, Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital, Kalafong Hospital and Tshwane Research Committee amongst others.

Professor Govender’ s keynote address had a detailed information on the principles that researchers must adhere. “This is a step in the right direction, protocols must be resuscitated.  If you don’t get it right on protocol development, you will not come up with a productive publication,” said Professor Govender.

Furthermore, five abstracts conducted viewing service delivery in Odi Hospital were presented. All these abstracts demonstrated that every employee had a role to play in order to improve service delivery.

The research day was commended by all those in attendance who said they were “mentally cultivated and challenged to continue with self-developmental programs in order bring about change in the corporate world mostly health sector.”

The Chief Executive of Odi District Hospital conveys the special gratitude to the organizers of this event, program participants, guests from other institutions and a round of applause to Odi District Hospital professionals
