Machabi takes us back memory lane as she celebrates 27 years in the department

One needs to work with utmost sincerity and honesty wherein the most important ingredients for success being hard work and dedication.

It is very essential to understand that nothing worth in life comes easy. All good things take time and need to be earned with relentless efforts.

Deputy Director for Gender, Youth and Disability Mainstreaming (GYDM) Eve Machabi shared her story with Weekly Bulletin about her 27 years of service in the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

She said, "I want to thank the Lord for my 27th Work Anniversary at the Gauteng Department of Social Development." "I literally started work with Desary Carlinsky. God's grace and mercy brought me this far. I pray that God continues to bless and protect me," she said.

Machabi added that on the 15th March 1994, she was employed as a Social Worker by the House of Representatives (known as Coloured Affairs).

"We later merged with House of Delegates, then literally moved offices from Bree Street and merged with House of Assembly at Harrison Street where Home Affairs is, then later Transvaal Provincial Administration (TPA) came to join us, we all moved to 81 Rissik Street, some to our Head Office at 69/75 Commissioner Street."

"In the new Government in 1994, we became one Department. We are still going strong together. We became friends with some of our colleagues and are still friends even now," said Machabi.
