Gauteng Health appoints more healthcare workers in preparation of the COVID-19 storm - 27 July 2020

The Gauteng Department of Health has added additional personnel as part of the department's strategy to intensify the fight against the raging covid-19 storm.

To date, the department has employed over 950 health workers, with 541 nurses, 118 doctors and over 250 falling under other categories of work.

The department also has 4700 planned appointments, with majority of appointments dedicated to nursing staff.

The department has created an e-recruitment platform where people can access future job opportunities.

The system has assisted to speed-up the recruitment of qualified health personnel. As the work to stop the further spread of COVID-19 intensifies, additional capacity across the board will be required.

Applications for opportunities can be made online at www.healthjobs.co.za where positions are advertised. Applicants are advised not to send any CVs via email.

The Department welcomes the further bolstering of the nursing staff in the province by the National Department of Health (NDoH).  Included in the nursing appointments is 173 nurses already received from NDOH; with an additional 107 expected in the coming weeks.
