The numbers have declined from the 6531 new cases that were reported on 08 July 2020 when the country and the province was on peak of the virus.

The province has further reported lower death cases during the period of level 2 of the lockdown.  Although there is a decline in new cases and death reported, Gauteng continues to test people, and intensifying the fight against coronavirus.

There has been a significant decline in the daily new hospital admissions, currently 2 625 patients are admitted in hospital, of which 761 are in ICU and high care and 1 864 in the general ward.

The highest number of hospital admissions was recorded in the middle of July, with the highest recorded daily new admissions being 7193 and 1 863 patients on oxygen on 22 July.
