The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is inviting qualifying transport operators to apply for special operating licenses for use to travel to the Comrades Marathon 2025 between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
All operating licenses with be valid for five (05) days from the date of issuance and applications will be received from 26 May until 02 June 2025.
These are issued to operators facilitate inter-provincial travel as runners, in this instance, were expected to undertake trips to KwaZulu Natal for the premier ultra-marathon during this period.
NB: Those applying for special events operating licences must be existing operators and in possession of valid operating licences.
Requirements:
Completed application forms can be handed in with the following documents and an application fee:
- Certified copy of ID/CC/ Pty (LTD);
- Original or certified copy of a permit/ Operating License
- Original or certified copy of a COF (Vehicle Certificate of Fitness);
- Original or certified copy of a COR (Vehicle Certificate of Registration);
- Tax clearance certificate issued by the South African Revenue Services (SARS);
- Any other documents that may be required for processing the application/s

Tshwane: ABSA Towers, 230 Lilian Ngoyi Street, Pretoria
Sedibeng: 45 Commissioner Street, JHB
West Rand: Cnr Kagiso and Emndeni Avenue, (Kagiso DLTC)
