Minister of Small Business Development Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams joined by MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Parks Tau embarked on roadshow to engage small business owners in Ratanda on the work and interventions government have for the area.
The Roadshow is part of a countrywide programme themed: "Unlocking opportunities for SMMEs and Co-operatives for economic growth and job creation".
Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams said the development and support of SMMEs was critical for economic recovery and job creation. 
"SMMEs are the key drivers for job creation, therefore unlocking value chains for the benefit of small businesses remains critical in recovering an economy that has lost over a million jobs due the pandemic," said the minister.
She highlighted the importance of these roadshows in driving department's mandate and ensuring that there was a seamless engagement across all spheres of government on the direction of the Department of Small Business Development and its entities.
"The department is committed to driving its core mandate which is to lead and coordinate an integrated approach to the promotion and development of entrepreneurship, SMMEs and Co-operatives, and to ensure an enabling legislative and policy environment to support their growth and sustainability" she added.
MEC Parks Tau outlined key plans and activities for the Sedibeng District, including the ongoing process to establish Vaal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for economic growth in this district.
"It is important for different stakeholders to work together in ensuring the desired impact, through the assessments of various challenges and highlighting lessons learnt in various districts. This can only be achieved through partnerships with both the public and private sectors," said MEC Tau.
