The Nasi Ispani reloaded programme, which aims to re-skill unemployed youth in Gauteng, was officially launched at Change Bible Church in Katlehong on Thursday, 11 September 2025.
The second installment of Nasi Ispani will place over 2500 participants on a 24-month job training programme across various skill sets.
This initiative aims to establish a capable, ethical, and developmental state while reducing its reliance on government tenders.
Nhlakanipho Mbatha, who was a participant in the National Youth Service (NYS), shared his experiences and journey to success.
Being young and ambitious propelled him into achieving success within the programme, and due to his dedication and hard work, he was selected to take part in a Youth Development Programme in Brazil. This programme helped him gain a deeper understanding of the issues affecting youth from a global perspective.
Nhlakanipho went on to encourage all participants of Nasi Ispani to grab all opportunities that are presented to them.
As a master's degree holder and a manager responsible for business, strategic, and performance planning at the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Nhlakanipho is a true reflection of the words from our former statesman, Nelson Mandela. He said, "Everyone can rise above their circumstance and achieve success if they're dedicated to and passionate about what they do."
Premier Panyaza Lesufi further reiterated that dedication is required in achieving success within the training programme and highlighted skills such as domestic and municipal plumbing, carpentry, welding, solar installation and maintenance, tiling and flooring, landscaping and horticulture maintenance, woodwork, and furniture repairs are some of the programmes that will be offered to young people.
As the Premier concluded, he reaffirmed that the government will use its power to create opportunities for young people.
