Cluny Farm in Kyalami, Midrand, was filled with energy and excitement on Wednesday, 04 June 2025, as People with Disabilities from across the Central Corridor came together to celebrate their talents at the Regional Disability Eisteddfods.

Hosted by the Gauteng Department of Social Development in partnership with Cluny Farm Centre, the event gave participants a platform to shine through music, dance, drama, and poetry — despite the chilly weather.

“We are here today to celebrate you and your talents,” said Social Work Manager Tsholofelo Matima. “Enjoy this day as we prepare you for the upcoming provincial campaign in October.”

The day was packed with inspiring performances. Mandla Leluta (49) from Takalani Protective Workshop in Soweto expressed his joy: “ I love this day because it allows us to express our God-given talents without feeling marginalized.”

For first-time participant Micheal Dewet(31) from St. Giles Residential Facility, the excitement was contagious.

“I’m part of a group dance performance today. We’ve been practicing for a week and we’re ready to give our best.”

The Eisteddfods brought together a number of organizations supporting Persons with Disabilities, including:

  • Takalani Home Protective Workshop
  • Sally’s Protective Workshop (SanSalvador)
  • Connie Mngomezulu Protective Workshop
  • St.Giles Association Residential Facility

  • Modimo O Moholo Protective Workshop
  • Aim Center ProtectiveWorkshop
  • The Gateway Protective Workshop

The day was a celebration of creativity, courage, and community spirit, proving once again that talent knows no bounds.
