Women from Goal Getters Management team are determined on efficiently and successfully running their cooperative funded by Gauteng Department of Social Development. The team own a successful clothing, school uniform and curtains manufacturing corporations in Driefontein East, Carletonville in the West Rand.

"Our cooperative was established in 2004. In 2010 Gauteng Department of Social Development introduced Bana Pele (Children First), a school uniform manufacturing project. The department approached us to be part of the project, we grabbed the opportunity and never looked back", said management team which comprises of Thakane Nkhi, Mamaphoka Tsiloane, Sylvia Thabisi and Malimpho Rampubane.

During an interview with Weekly Bulletin Writer, Sibusiso Chauke, Nkhi narrated their journey. "When Gauteng Social Development approached us ten (10) years ago to be part of school uniform manufacturing project, we never looked back and have been operating since. We have expanded our project because we are no longer manufacturing only school uniform.

We are now producing clothes for individuals, churches uniform, curtains and mining uniform for Sibanye Gold and we are operating within their premises", she said.

"It was not easy in the beginning but through determination we are still going strong. We used to employ more staff but ever since the national lockdown due to covid-19 came into effect, only founders and two employees are operational because we must respect restrictions. We are planning to expand to enable us to create more jobs especially empowering more women although we have men working in our cooperative.

We want to eradicate poverty in the community. We wish to partner with training centres to extend sewing skills to the youth. We will be forever grateful to Social Development for their support over the years", they concluded.
