Jubilee dance team scoops first prize in national dance competition

Dance team from Jubilee District Hospital scooped first prize in the Exceptional Dance Challenge competition for nurses held recently.

Participants were required to choose their own moves, attire and dance to “We will Rise” song by Ndlovu Youth Choir.


The completion was sponsored by the Crazy store, food Lovers Market, Run/ walk for life and Bramley Cosmetics.


Second prize went to Worcester Public Hospital in the Western Cape and third was Somerset Hospital also from the Western Cape.


The team from JDH received hampers from Bramley Cosmetics and Toiletries and six months membership from Run/Walk for life.


Expressing her excitement about the victory, Area Nursing Manager and Coordinator of the Dance Team, Pauline Legodi said this achievement has uplifted the nurses spirit as they continue to fight against the pandemic.


“We saw the dance challenge as an opportunity to boost nurse’s morale and mental wellbeing as most participants are working in the covid-19 Unit. This formed part of our celebration of the year 2020, as the year of the Nurse and Midwifes.”

Head of Nursing in the hospital, Tsakani Ngenya- khuvutlu said: “I am very proud of Team Jubilee. They took the competition positively and ran with it.  Happiness is good for nurses and it contributes to overall improved service delivery.
