DID's A-Team Mobilises to Fast-Track Delivery at Nancefield Primary
By: Tsietso Ngoedi
Today, the Department of Infrastructure Development's (DID) elite technical task force, the A-Team, deployed to Nancefield Primary School in Eldorado Park to execute a high-impact pilot condition assessment. This mission-critical visit focused on evaluating the school's electrical, mechanical and structural systems to ensure readiness for upcoming construction and long-term operational reliability.
This forms part of the DID's execution mandate on behalf of our client, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), to construct a new, modern Nancefield Primary School. The project entails replacing the outdated asbestos facility with a state-of-the-art school that will include classrooms for Grades R to seven, an nutrition centre, an administration block, combi-courts and a secure guardhouse. This is a transformation geared toward delivering safe, functional and future-proof education infrastructure.
Upon arrival, the Acting Deputy Director-General for Corporate Services, Wesley Jacobs, addressed the A-Team and reinforced the directive issued by MEC Jacob Mamabolo during his Budget Vote Speech. "The A-Team has a defined and urgent mandate," Jacobs stated. "You are the Department's frontline built environment specialists deployed to unlock bottlenecks, enforce infrastructure compliance, validate data accuracy, and provide technical leadership across all priority sites."
MEC Mamabolo's vision is clear. Build with intent, muscle out through impact, and ensure every project transitions seamlessly from planning to delivery; with speed, precision and quality. The A-Team is at the heart of this mission, representing the Department's renewed focus on proactive infrastructure management, robust interdepartmental collaboration and service delivery excellence.
Following today's successful on-site evaluation, the A-Team will consolidate their findings on the condition assessment into a comprehensive technical report to be submitted to MEC Mamabolo. This report will not only inform next steps at Nancefield but also set the standard for conditional assessments across Gauteng.
The DID remains unwavering in its commitment to deliver quality infrastructure, restoring public confidence and unlocking service delivery through disciplined execution and technical excellence.
