The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) team is on a vaccine rollout outreach programme at Vaal University of Technology, Vanderbijlpark campus this week.

The team will set up a mobile vaccination site which will target university students from Thursday until Saturday, 11 September 2021.

People are requested to bring their proof of identity to get vaccinated. The site will provide both walk-in and drive-through vaccination.

With the country is expected to enter a fourth wave of the virus in November, Gauteng health department spokesperson Kwara Kekana said the province needs to get as many people vaccinated to minimise its impact.

Gauteng province has set to reach its 10 million vaccination targets by mid-December 2021 to accelerate economic activity.

"When more people get vaccinated, the quicker the country can return to a normal life. We have seen a semblance of normality in countries where the mass population has been vaccinated," said Kekana.

All persons 18 years and older are encouraged to visit the pop-up vaccination site to receive the jab.

COVID-19 vaccines protect against severe illness, hospitalisation, and death in the event one contracts the coronavirus.
