Social Development Long Service Awards

Department of Social Development 2019/11/27 - 22:00

A 61-year-old Saziso Ceba from Krugersdorp Office in the West Rand is one of the six recipients who served the department for 40 years.

The Gauteng Department of Social Development will honor them together with other officials who served more years during the Long Service Awards.

The awards will be held at Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre on 11 December 2019 where MEC for Gauteng Department of Social Development is expected to hand over the awards to recipients.

The Programme Coordinator for this awards, Monica Zwane, says more than 300 recipients who served ten, twenty and thirty years will be honoured with these awards.

Zwane says all the recipients will be treated as guests because this will be their special day. The live band from Father Smangaliso has been invited to entertain the recipients.

According to Ceba he started working for Gauteng Department of Social Development as a young man, working in the department was quite a journey for him.

"I started as a Peace Officer during the apartheid government under the Transvaal Administration Board. Then later I was promoted as a Transport Officer" until my retirement day," he said.

"I was only 21 years old when I joined this department and today I'm is proud grandfather of three". he laughs.

However, Ceba says he would like to encourage youth of today to study further when they get employed by the government because there are many opportunities out there.

He says he received training in computers which he did not have when he started, and had the opportunity to attend many training sessions on various subjects.
