Due to high number of Covid-19 cases most of the events have been cancelled however Directorate Gender, Youth and Disability will host the event virtually on June 18.

Deputy Director of GYDM Eve Machabi said the event was supposed to be held in the auditorium, but following the adjusted government lockdown regulations the event will be held virtually to protect staff.

Machabi also said the workshop will target internal interns with the aim of celebrating and recognizing the contribution of the 1976 youth and to provide information and discuss Sexual Harassment in the workplace.

She further said awareness on gender, youth and disability mainstreaming will be raised to teach them how to interact with different communities.

"The number of GBV is very high in the country, therefore we need to constantly engage on this matter and also continue educating on LGBTQIA" says Machabi.

"Not forgetting to share information on how to fight substance abuse and how it affects their well-being and professional ethics in the workplace since they are not familiar with it".

She also said Youth Month is used as a period to reflect on the work done to empower and develop the youth in South Africa as well as to reinforce commitment from different stakeholders towards Youth Development efforts and initiatives.
