Progress on the construction of Rust-Ter-Val Secondary School in Vereeniging, Emfuleni
By Prudence Motsila
The construction of the new Rust Ter Val Secondary School is well underway, with progress currently at an impressive 86% completion. Once complete, the brand-new, purpose-built Smart School will accommodate 1,000 learners, providing them with a modern, safe, and inspiring learning environment.
Designed to integrate advanced Smart School features alongside essential infrastructure, the facility is geared to enhance safety, improve efficiency for staff and learners, and meet the growing demand for quality education in the area.
The project scope includes the full replacement of the existing school with state-of-the-art facilities such as an administration block, classrooms, a multipurpose hall, change rooms, refuse yards, a guardhouse, a generator room, a pump room, a science block, and extensive external works.
Currently, primary and secondary learners are sharing the same space. However, once complete, 1,000 secondary learners will have a dedicated school of their own. The contractor has committed to providing sufficient financial resources to avoid delays, while the Professional Service Provider (PSP) continues to ensure all necessary construction information is delivered promptly to keep the project on track.
The Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) is excited to see this vision taking shape—a future-ready institution that will empower the learners of Rust Ter Val with the tools, spaces, and opportunities they deserve.
If you want, I can also make a shorter, punchier news-style version for quick media releases so it grabs attention faster. That would be good for social media or press highlights.
