"The Gauteng Department of Health is continuously inundated with calls from the public asking questions around the administration of the COVID-19 vaccines. One of the frequently asked question is, "can I get vaccinated if I am sick?" said Head of Communication, Motalatale Modiba.

As of Wednesday, 21 July 2021 a total of 1 405 463 vaccines were administered and 1 868 046 people have been registered in the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) in the province.

"The Department would like to urge members of the public visiting various vaccination sites across the province to be truthful when completing the screening questionnaire.

"This will help the healthcare workers on site to provide better counsel prior to administering the vaccine. Furthermore, no other vaccine may be co-administered with the COVID-19 vaccine," said Modiba.

All public vaccination sites in Gauteng accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not. There is a total of 361 active vaccination sites in both public and private sector facilities in the province.
