Mr Welcome Sibisi has been appointed the new Chief Director responsible for Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Gauteng Department of Social Development.
Sibisi joined the department in 2001 as a Community Liaison Officer and was later promoted to Chief Community Liaison Officer responsible for Community Development work at Johannesburg Metro Region.
Sibisi was later appointed Assistant Director for Lenasia Cluster responsible for management of comprehensive services which among others included; Social Work Services, Community Development Work and Support Services. He later progressed and became Deputy Director within Partnerships and Financing still in the Johannesburg Metro Region, at the time when Partnerships and Sustainable Livelihood were still a joint sub-directorate.
In 2013, he was appointed Director for Monitoring and Evaluation for overall Departmental Performance Monitoring and Evaluation based at Head Office which is the post that he occupied until he was appointed into the current post of Chief Director: Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.
Speaking to the Weekly Bulletin, Sibisi said, "The Chief Directorate has always been a shining example that has facilitated and ensured that the department attained clean audits on the Audit of Predetermined Objectives (AOPO) for the past seven years through sterling work of Regions, Institutions and Head Office Business Units.
This par excellence is an indication that the department prides itself with accelerated service delivery and it continues to be a beacon of a truly Caring Public Service Institution".
Sibisi assured colleagues in the department that, "The Chief Directorate is in good hands, it requires us to keep up the good work that has been attained over the years and gradually introduce new innovations that will ensure that the excellent work of the department is preserved".
