The Sawubona Mhlali Service Delivery Brigades in Tsakane, Eastern Corridor have once again shown their commitment to serving vulnerable people. This comes after they donated a wheelchair to a 12-year-old child with a disability following a household profiling in the area.
Speaking to Weekly Bulletin last Friday, 11 October 2024, Team Leader, Issac Ncengwa said "We were doing a household profiling at Ward 84 in Tsakane. One of the needs we encountered in one of the households in this community is that there was a child with a disability that was in urgent need of a wheelchair."
"As a form of intervention, we got a donation from Tsakane Old Age Home. So, we are here today to deliver the wheelchair together with the Ward Councillor," said Ncengwa.
The child, who could not be mentioned to protect his identity is living with his mother in a shack. They survive through a disability grant from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA)). The Family has further requested donations in a form of old clothes and food parcels.
Ward Councillor Phikisile Mthiyane added that she will verify if the family is approved for an RDP house as their case needs a special attention.
