Licence Renewal - Online payment system launched

Department of Roads and Transport 2022/02/07 - 23:00

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has launched the online payment system on its Natis online booking system.

This development is, according to RTMC, "designed to enhance online renewals and bookings to create a seamless booking experience when using online booking services".

The introduction of the online payment means that members of the public can avoid long queues and renew online, make a payment and opt for home delivery.

Online vehicle licence renewal

Individuals and corporates will be able to register accounts online. Thereafter, they will be able to pay the required amounts which will then be allocated against their account. Upon conclusion of payment, the vehicle licence disc will either be posted or couriered to the owner at an additional cost.

Online driver licence card renewal

Motorists will be able to renew and make a payment of the prescribed fee online prior to presenting themselves at licensing centres for fingerprints, photos and eye tests.

Online registration and notice of change of vehicle ownership

Provisions will be made for participating financial institutions to register vehicles online, to eliminate the process of registering at a registering centre. This function will allow an approved entity the ability to register a vehicle to themselves as title holders, in real time, thus ensuring the integrity on Natis information is enhanced and maintained.

Payment of Online Crash Report

In September 2019, an online Crash Reporting Application was developed allowing public members to report minor crashes without having to visit a SAPS station. The platform allows members of the public to retrieve their own crash information. This is extended to insurance companies as well.
