COVID19 - Gauteng pilots taxi rank vaccination registration drive

Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure MEC Jacob Mamabolo visited the Esangweni Taxi Rank, Thembisa – City of Ekurhuleni, on Thursday, 12 August 2021, as part of the Provincial Government's pilot programme to have more people vaccinated.

This forms part of the provincial government's COVID19 vaccination drive to encourage eligible persons to register. It is rolled out in partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Department of Health.

Announcing the expansion of the programme, MEC Mamabol said that "from today you will see this partnership with the Department of Health. We are going to the taxi ranks."

"Taxi ranks are a strategic sites to drive vaccination programmes" he added.

Amongst Its objectives, the programme is aimed at assisting eligible commuters and taxi operators to register for their COVID-19 vaccination.

The pilot at taxi ranks has been welcomed by drivers and commuters alike. #GGTSmartMobility
