Determined Tebatso Sophy Kgwadi is one of the 47, 399 pupils from Gauteng who obtained distinctions in last year’s matric examinations.

An 18-year-old foster care beneficiary, Kgwadi got five distinctions and two merits, and aspires to be a Lawyer.

She intends to pursue studies in Bachelor of Law at university.

Kgwadi added that, “I’m passionate about studying law and hope that this channel will lead to a prosperous life ahead, if that fails, I will opt for studies in Economics”.

The former learner from Christian Progressive School in Pretoria Central, Tshwane got 87% in Maths, 84% Economics, 90% Life Orientation and 87% in History.

She attributes her success to self-discipline. “I studied hard from the beginning of the year so that I can obtain good results which I hoped and prayed that they will entice potential study bursaries for me”. She lost her mother while doing Grade 11 and has never met her father.
