Last week, the Gauteng Department of Social Development and National Department of Social Development successfully launched the West Rand leg of 'Know Your NPO Status' (KYNS) campaign from 12 to 13 September in the West Rand.

They first reached out to the Fochville NPOs and in surrounding areas on Thursday at the Civic Centre and successfully wrapped up the programme at Chief Mogale Hall on Friday. NPOs representatives came out in numbers to grab the opportunity afforded to them by the department to verify, check and update their details on the database.

Nono Yende, Deputy Director from Gauteng Social Development in the NPO Financing Directorate addressed the representatives on the importance of compliance. She said, "It is very important for us to engage with you to ensure every cent is accounted for. Please utilize this opportunity, those who have documents that are needed can submit here".

The National Department of Social Development were available to assist with checking the outstanding reports if any. Those that had the documents ready were assisted by National DSD to upload the reports on-site.

The National database of registered NPOs comprises of 214 743 of registered NPOs across all sectors.

Ordinarily, NPOs can submit reports at the following offices:

• 69 Commissioner Street, Johannesburg after the set date above
