Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi has welcomed the reopening of the Orchards clinic saying it will assist in addressing long waiting queues.

The clinic was officially opened on Monday, 05 September 2022 after the completion of refurbishments which started in 2015.

It will serve the community of Orange Grove, Orchards, Hawkins Estate, Rouxville, Savoy, Highlands North, and Belview.

"I am very pleased that the clinic will be opened to the community. The clinic is serving a large catchment area.

"When the clinic was closed people from Orange Grove and surrounding suburbs had to travel long distances to Hillbrow or Alexandra to access healthcare services and that contributed to long queues and traveling long distances to the clinics will now be a thing of the past," said Mokgethi.

The clinic will operate from 07h30 – 16h00 Monday to Friday and is closed on weekends and public holidays.

It will provide primary healthcare services such as emergency, acute care, chronic care, mother and child, HIV and TB treatment, mental health services, adolescent and youth-friendly services, and ante and post-natal care.
