Easter is a time to bring families together, unwind from the heavy responsibilities of life and live a little. This year, the Gauteng Department of e-Government will join other departments to exhibit their services to the attendees of the Rand Easter Show in Johannesburg.

The Rand Show has been an important annual fixture in Johannesburg for 129 years, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The department intends to use this platform to highlight some of its new priorities as stated by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, such as e-Policing.

E-Policing is the use of technology-driven solutions to fight crime. These e-policing solutions include the deployment of drones, high-caliber facial recognition cameras, vehicle, and weapon tracking, as well as an e-panic button.

The MEC  of e-Government, Research and Development, Mr Mzi Khumalo, said it was important for them to take government services directly to the public so they can benefit from them. "Programmes such as e-Policing have been established for the safety and security of our citizens, therefore it is important for them to know how they work and how they can benefit from these initiatives,"

Amongst other services that will be showcased include the Gauteng Digital Platform, one of the popular e-services that one can access is the Gauteng Professional Job Centre also known as e-Recruitment. e-Recruitment is an online job portal that GPG uses to advertise available job vacancies. This e-service provides job seekers with convenience and easy access to advertised GPG vacancies, anywhere, anytime.
