MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi leads the hotline vaccination drive- 12 May 2021

Gauteng Health MEC, Dr. Nomathemba Mokgethi on Wednesday, 12 May visited the Gauteng Public Hotline call centre at 1 Central Place, Newtown in a bid to encourage Gauteng residents to register for COVID-19   the vaccination.

As the country gears itself for the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout programme targeting the most vulnerable members of the community, the elderly.

During the visit, Gauteng Public Hotline Director, Philemon Buthelezi discussed the role the hotline will play in making sure the public registers for vaccination.

 Buthelezi said: "The Gauteng Hotline has a relationship that has developed quite strongly during the pandemic most of the information came through during the food parcel campaign that started the previous year along with community healthcare workers that drive the information into the service delivery intervention centre.

To date, in its first week the Hotline engaged 3400 citizens about 1931 have registered and 1469 are still undecided, the Director further added that he was encouraged by the number of residents calling back to register.

MEC Mokgethi said, "the province will look at every possible avenue to ensure that all  senior citizens have registered," she said.
