The Rearabilwe Child and Youth Care Centre in Ga Rankuwa set to be completed by end of April

In bid to drive environmental and social sustainability when developing new infrastructure, the Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and Property Management Tasneem Motara visited the on-going project of Rearabilwe Child and Youth Care Centre situated at Ga-rankuwa Zone 2 on Monday, 17 February 2020.
The MEC's visit is a pre program ahead of the State of the Province Address (SOPA) which takes place on Tuesday, 25 February 2020.
As an implementing agent of the Department of Social Development, the Department of Infrastructure Development is on a construction mandate for administrative offices at the Rearabilwe CYCC.
Upon completion, the office accommodation will benefit the community and staff of Ga-Rankuwa. The client required a building that would consolidate various administrative offices into a single facility which provides all required amenities.
The building provides facilities such as Garage accommodation which include: three garage parking areas, entrance lobby, Ablution. The main building will accommodate: two board rooms, two store rooms, two social worker offices, two consolation offices and a reception area and a Staff Male and Female toilets.
The project has faced many challenges such as delays to the foundation works and affected progress on site, hence the construction progress to date is 94%.
The projected started in 17 March 2016 and aimed to be completed, this year on 30 April 2020.
In terms of skills transferring and uplifting local communities, the project benefited about 45 EPWP participants and 23 Subcontractors were involved in making the project a success.
