The Gauteng Department of Social Development is proud to announce the appointment of Chief Director: Social Welfare and Specialist Services, Tebello Mkhonto.
Ms Mkhonto assumed her new role on the 1st of June 2021, following her tenure as Director for Substance Abuse in the Department.
Mkhonto is a registered Social Worker appointed by the Gauteng Department of Social Development.
She obtained her BA Social Work degree at the University of the North (now University of Limpopo). She furthered her studies at the University of Witwatersrand where she obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Management and a Master's Degree in Management specializing in Public Management and Development.
She is currently pursuing her second Master's Degree specializing in Social Development at University of Witwatersrand.
Mkhonto is aspiring to be an internationally accredited life coach and is enrolled with the Coaching Centre. She has vast experience in the NPO sector, specialising in substance abuse.
She also worked at Local Government sphere as part of Reconstruction and Development programme before joining the Gauteng Department of Social Development at provincial office.
