The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport will this
weekend - Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 April 2021, launch its road network
improvement drive, the Smart Mobility Weekends Campaign – a move aimed at
improving the overall conditions of the province’s road network.
Smart Mobility Weekends, undertaken jointly with
municipalities, seek to build partnerships to seamlessly attend to the
important task of enhancing road maintenance of provincial and local networks.
It primarily aims to ensure that all public roads in Gauteng
are kept to acceptable standards, are safe and allow for smart, easy movement
of people and goods as part of the Department’s strategy of Growing Gauteng
Together Through Smart Mobility.
Activities will include, but not limited to, grass cutting;
patching of potholes; undertaking road markings; installing signage and fixing
traffic lights.
