The Gauteng Department of Social Development invites NGOs, i.e. NGOs that provide services in the areas of Poverty Alleviation, Youth Development, with emphasis on Access to information, Social Programme, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship to apply for funding to strengthen service delivery goals in the following area:1. Centres of Excellence in Johannesburg and West Rando To improve income, asset and capabilities of youth within communitieso To reduce income poverty amongst poor and vulnerable youth in Gauteng Province, with a focus on;• Entrepreneurship incubation and training programmes• Entrepreneurship mentorship partnershipso To implement youth programmes that assist youth to access decent work and participate in mainstream Economyo To facilitate and conduct skills development and training programmes that will enable vulnerable persons to find sustainable employment or to start own businesses, with a focus on;• Scarce skills• Skills linked to employment partnerships or demando To support and strengthen family and community interventions that foster social cohesionTo be considered favourably, applicants must be able to illustrate how maximum impact can be generated with the lowest possible use of resources.Eligibility CriteriaNote: Applicants not meeting eligibility criteria will not be considered for formal assessment and subsequent funding. The Department reserves the right not to enter into correspondence regarding unsolicited proposals.o All proposals for funding must be done using the Department’s application forms (service plan)o All sections of the application form must be fully and comprehensively completedo All proposals must illustrate how the proposed activities will contribute to national and provincial prioritieso All NGOs must produce documented proof of their NPO certificate and compliancecertificate which will be verified for validity with the National Department of SocialDevelopment (DSD)o Applicants must comply with the Public Finance Management Act (Act 1 of 1999) to ensure sound financial Management and accounting by signing the section 38 (1) (J) Annexure C1(Please note the dept. will also verify whether the NPO Does have sound controls)o The NPO must be based in Gauteng ProvinceHOW TO APPLY:The following documents are required from applicants who wish to be considered for funding:• Proposal: Business Plan detailing schematic plan and proposed budget• Certified copy of certificate of registration under the Non-Profit Organisations Act, 1997 and a compliance certificate• Copy of the NGO’s constitution and financial policy signed by board members• Names of Board Members, ID numbers and personnel profiles including details of personnel employed by the NGO• NPO compliance letter• Audited financial statements for the most recent year that the organisation has been in existence• Details of other sources of funding, including amounts and areas of focus for the past financial period (as requested in application Form)Application FormsNote: All applicants must ensure that they have presented their proposals to Regional offices of the Gauteng Department of Social Development: Sustainable Livelihoods Unit.The table below lists names and contact details of Provincial Managers that you should consult with:VERY IMPORTANT: All Interested NGOs are required to attend a Non-Compulsory Briefing Session on the 08th November 2019 10h00 at West Rand (52 Hilmar Road, NUFCOR, Zuurbekom, 1787), Johannesburg (75 Commissioner Street, Department of Social Development, Johannesburg, 2000)Attendance of the briefing is limited to 2 representative per NGOAll proposals (properly completed application forms together with the required supporting documentation) must be hand-delivered to the regional addresses provided above and addressed to contact personsWest RandMs. Nomonde MphetshwaTshifhiwa Tshikalaha011 950 7773Office 9 first floor, SA Dutch Building 16 Human Street Krugersdorp.JoburgTshifhiwa Tshikalaha011 355 935191 Commissioner Street, Batho PeleBuilding, Corner Commissioner and Loveday Street.
