Companies who are players in the Gauteng economy are encouraged to join the programme, to get more young people into opportunities, as follows:
Training and skills development is linked to market demand.
Young people are linked to short and medium term work experience and voluntary work aligned to industry.
Long term contract or full time basis, in applicable sectors.
Facilitation of young entrepreneurs, support existing ones and establishing and operating new enterprise/ micro-franchise.

Tshepo 1 Million provides hope to young people in Gauteng who are unemployed and looking for a way to access the skills and learning that will prepare them for the world of work.
The Tshepo 1Million programme is a comprehensive youth empowerment initiative launched in 2014, but with a restructured operational design being phased in from January 2017 onwards.
- For youth who did not complete matric, and have no work experience
- For youth who have their matric, but have never worked
- For youth who have vocational training, or experience working in a small business
- For youth who did not complete their university education, or for those who graduated but are still unemployed

The programme uses a comprehensive clearing house system to channel youth with a range of different skill levels:
-Demand-Led learning � training channels such as SETA/TVET channels topped up with market bridging courses.
- Transitional Placements - Paid work done on a temporary basis aimed at developing work experience such as internships, learnerships, data audits, survey contracts, etc.
- Decent Jobs - Paid work on contract at or above sectoral minimum for full time work � preferably permanent
- New Economy/ SMME - Facilitation of a young entrepreneur establishing and operating a new enterprise/franchise
Youth will be placed according to education level and skill set.
There is no guarantee of employment, although the programme will give you skills to improve your employability chances. You can upgrade your skills, you can find temporary or permanent employment and also entrepreneurship support to start your own business. As soon as you have received training, you can be in a better position to carve your niche and be in a good position to find employment.
