The Gauteng Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health and Wellness, Ms. Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko 
invites the public to nominate person/s for the appointment to serve as members of Council for Gauteng College 
of Nursing (GCON), in terms of section 4 of the GCON Institutional Statute. 


GCON has six (6) campuses across the province namely, Ann Latsky Campus, Bonalesedi Campus, Chris Hani 
Baragwanath Campus, Ga-Rankuwa Campus, Rahima Moosa Campus and SG Lourens Campus. Members 
of the College Council are appointed by the MEC for Health and Wellness according to Section 5 (2) of the 
institutional statute. 


Members of the public who are qualified and with expertise in the following areas may be nominated for 
appointment as members of GCON Council: a) Legal commercial / corporate b) Finance/Financial Accounting, 
c) Higher Education, d) Clinical Nursing Experience with expertise in Nursing Education and Training, e) Business, 
f) Marketing, g) Information Communication Technology, h) Human Resource Management, i) Education, 
j) Audit and Risk Skills. Having served as a member of board or college council will be an added advantage.

NOMINATIONS: Nomination Form is available on the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) website: 
www.gauteng.gov.za. The nomination form must be signed by at least two (2) members of the public and by the 
Nominee, as an indication of his or her willingness to serve on the Council and its committees.

THE CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT INCLUDE: 
• The nominees must not be members or employees of the Gauteng Department of Health.
• The nominees must be suitably qualified and with expertise in the above-mentioned areas.
• The persons to be appointed shall serve as Council Members for the five (5) year term (2024 – 2029). 

PLEASE NOTE: 
• These are not salaried positions, however, GCON will remunerate all external members for attendance of 
meetings according to tariffs determined by the Department of National Treasury. 
• All traveling expenses will be paid by GCON as per the Department of Transport tariffs. 
• That applications will be subjected to a vetting process.

referees and a declaration by the Nominee that no conflict of interest exists with GCON.
